At Naples General & Cosmetic Dentistry, we are proud to offer our patients the premier in-office teeth whitening system available – Zoom. In just one appointment, the Zoom system can brighten teeth by up to 12 shades, producing stunning, natural-looking results that are visible immediately. The procedure:
Is safe and effective

Produces little to no discomfort
Uses a proprietary LED technology to reduce tooth sensitivity
Does not soften tooth enamel
Is not harmful to gum tissue
Has no adverse impact on fillings
Requires about one hour to complete
Is administered by dental professionals only
Achieves results that can last for years
One visit is all it takes to remove stains that have taken years to accumulate and provide you with a brighter, whiter smile. You'll even be able to relax, watch TV, listen to music, or take a nap during treatment!
If you hesitate to smile because your teeth are dull, dingy, or stained, get in touch with us to find out more about this revolutionary in-house teeth whitening treatment.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Years ago, the preferred approach for filling cavities and repairing damaged teeth was with a mixture – or “amalgam” – of different metals.
Amalgam fillings, although durable, are very noticeable and have a tendency to darken the tooth over time. They also expand and contract when exposed to hot and cold beverages and food, causing teeth to crack. And the mercury used in the metal mixture has caused health concerns.
Today, natural-looking, metal-free fillings are the preferred approach. These tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resins that bond to the natural tooth and are safe and predictable. The major advantages of composite (white) fillings include:
They closely match the color and look of natural teeth
They chemically bond to the tooth structure, so the dentist doesn't need to make grooves or insert pins in healthy teeth to keep them in place
The bonding restores at least 80% of the original strength of the tooth
They harden completely in a few seconds, instead of days
They can be used on front and back teeth
They can be repaired if damaged
Many older adults still have amalgam fillings that were placed during their teenage years. Although they're still in place, they may not be in good condition. If you have old silver fillings that have become dark and unsightly, we can replace them with tooth-colored fillings.
Crowns and Bridges
Dental crowns and bridges offer a solution to missing or damaged teeth. Crowns are caps made to fit over an existing tooth. They are often recommended following a root canal filling to protect the remaining tooth whose strength is often compromised by the extensive decay and infection that may have been present.
If you are searching for a permanent solution to severely damaged, decayed or aesthetically lacking teeth, Crowns may be the solution for you!
Crowns can help recreate your beautiful smile and repair the structure and function of any tooth. Covering the entire surface area of a tooth, Crowns increase the strength and stability of teeth. They create the appearance the same texture, translucency and color as natural teeth.
Bridges are units of false teeth that are fixed to remaining natural teeth to fill a gap. A bridge may take the place of one or more missing teeth and the results can be excellent with good function and aesthetic results. With careful maintenance a well-made bridge can last many years.
CEREC “Single Visit” Crowns
At Naples General & Cosmetic Dentistry, it's possible to get a beautiful, new permanent crown in just one visit!
CEREC stands for CEramic REConstruction. It's a system that uses the same advanced 3D technology that has innovated so many other industries – CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing).
Just like the older process (which can take up to three visits), the tooth is made numb and prepared. But the similarity stops there. Instead of making a mold, the tooth is scanned with an LED camera. A computer then creates a 3D model, and a porcelain crown is designed from it using software.
Once designed, a separate machine creates the crown in a few minutes. After we remove it from the machine, it is ready to be permanently cemented in place in less than 15 minutes.
The advantages of CEREC include:
There is no need for a second visit or another shot to numb your teeth
There is no need for temporary crowns which may never fit properly or simply fall off
CEREC crowns can generally be used on all teeth, including molars
CEREC crowns will match the color and appearance of the rest of your teeth
CEREC crowns are designed to feel like natural teeth
CEREC crowns last at least as long as metal crowns, probably longer
Schedule a consultation at Naples General & Cosmetic Dentistry to find out if a CEREC “Single Visit” crown is right for you.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, veneers may be a good option for you.
Dental veneers are ultra-thin, translucent layers of composite or porcelain material that fit over an existing tooth to improve its color, shape or size. If you have chipped or stained teeth, crooked teeth, or a gap that makes you feel self-conscious, veneers can quickly revitalize your smile.
Your dentist will prepare the tooth for an impression by trimming a thin layer of enamel from the front of the tooth. There is very little discomfort. A mold is used to take an impression which is sent to a dental lab to fabricate the veneer. This can take some time, but you will have a temporary veneer until the permanent veneer is ready. When ready, the veneer will be cemented in place with a bonding agent.
Once bonded to the teeth, porcelain veneers are highly resistant to stains. They resemble healthy, natural teeth and no one will know you have them. In general, dental veneers can be expected to last from five to fifteen years.
